10 Ways to Love Yourself

Everywhere you look this time of year, we see hearts and ways to express love towards others. What about showing some appreciation to oneself by supporting our physical and psychological progression? Have a look at my 10 ways you can love yourself this season. 


  1. Gratitude Journal. Upon Waking, write down what you are grateful for that day. It can be simple, silly or something deeper. This allows us to practice gratitude and enjoy everything we have in life.

  2. Sunlight. Within the hour of waking, allow yourself to get 15 minutes of natural sun. This will improve your circadian rhythm and promote better sleep. When we’re well-rested it clears our mind, improves our mood and boosts immunity.

  3. Treat Yourself. Is there a specific food or dessert you crave but don’t give into temptation? Go for it today! Whether it’s those crispy fries you pass up or that warm chocolate chip cookie you decline after dinner- give yourself a little indulgence today. Plan ahead when you’re going to enjoy your treat to better map out your day.

  4. Check in with Your Body. Take a yoga or stretching class and gain some awareness of how your body feels. Are you tense? Do you lack balance or mobility? Work on building a stronger body with some of these classes. Bonus: book a non-refundable class to hold yourself accountable ;)

  5. Relax the Mind. Meditation or Box Breathing- a powerful but simple method to return breathing to its normal rhythm after a stressful experience. Here’s how it works: breathe in, counting to four slowly. Feel the air enter your lungs. Hold your breath for 4 seconds. Try to avoid inhaling or exhaling for 4 seconds. Slowly exhale through your mouth for 4 seconds. Repeat steps 1 to 3 until you feel calm and relaxed.

  6. Sweat it Out. A good sweat promotes a healthy lymphatic system and helps detox the body. Either a sauna or spin session is a great way to work up a sweat.

  7. Simple (and Exciting) Self-Care Routines- Make time for self care that you love. Self-care strategies have jumped up a notch recently, but many can be time consuming and not manageable. Pick some that excite you. Whether it’s a face or hair mask, a blow out or manicure- commit to a self care protocol you enjoy.  

  8. Exercise Your Brain. Sign up for that online class, program or workshop you’ve been wanting to learn about as continuing education. Nourishing our minds is just as important as nourishing our bodies.

  9. Find your Tribe. Whether it’s your ride or die crew, a lifetime partner or fitness friends, surround yourself with positive people you love. From childhood to adulthood, the biggest influencers in our lives are our friends. Choose them wisely, have fun times and take care of one another.

  10. Purchase Quality. This could be a pair of shoes, a dress or that fresh organic produce that always looks good, but is more expensive than your average groceries. If it’s not within your budget at the moment, save up and spend when you’re ready. When we put quality items on and in us, it improves our mindset, mood and long term health. You’re worth it!
